The 5 Best All-Inclusive Resorts in Punta Cana

Punta Cana has more than 80 all-inclusive resorts, so picking the best all-inclusive resort in Punta Cana is harder than it should be. Most reviews show drone shots and restaurant lists, then skip the parts guests actually complain about, like seaweed on the beach or "all-inclusive" resorts that charge for room service.

So we read the reviews. Thousands of them, from TripAdvisor, Google, Expedia and Booking, focused on the last 12 months. Here are the 5 best all-inclusive resorts in Punta Cana, what guests love about each one, and what they don't.

How We Ranked These Punta Cana Resorts

Every resort got a score out of 10 based on five things:

  • Beach: sand, water, crowds and seaweed

  • Food: quality, variety and how hard it is to get a table

  • Rooms: condition, comfort and upkeep

  • Service: staff, butlers and how problems get handled

  • Value: what you get for the nightly price

When to Go: The Punta Cana Seaweed Warning

Punta Cana has a seaweed problem. It's called sargassum, it usually shows up from May to October, and it hit every resort on this list in 2026. If a clean beach matters to you, plan your trip between December and April.

#5 Sanctuary Cap Cana (8.4/10)

Sanctuary Cap Cana looks like a Spanish castle on the ocean. It's adults-only, inside the gated Cap Cana area, with six pools, an overwater restaurant called Blue Marlin and butlers guests mention by name. It's a Marriott, so you can book it on points.

The problem is value. Guests say it feels less all-inclusive than it used to, with fees for room service, extra-cost dining in Sanctuary Town and upsell offers at check-in. The beach is small and rocky, and recent reviews mention seaweed, mold and worn furniture. Its value score on TripAdvisor is the lowest on this list. Rooms start around $450 a night in low season and around $800 in winter.

Best for: couples who want the castle, the pools and the photos.

#4 Excellence El Carmen (8.6/10)

Excellence El Carmen, now called Excellence Carmen Punta Cana, is an adults-only resort in quiet Uvero Alto. Guests love the staff first and the rooms second, especially the swim-up suites where a lazy-river pool runs past your patio. Lobster is included at dinner, and airport transfers are free.

The biggest complaint is the food, which guests often call average. The beach faces the open Atlantic, so the waves are often too rough to swim, and the rooms are starting to show their age. It's also the cheapest resort on this list, starting around $290 a night in low season and around $520 in winter.

Best for: the cheapest way into a good adults-only resort in Punta Cana.

#3 JOIA Bávaro by Iberostar (8.8/10) — Best Value

JOIA Bávaro by Iberostar, formerly Iberostar Grand Bávaro, is the resort most lists skip. It's adults-only on the wide, calm part of Bávaro Beach, it won TripAdvisor's Best of the Best for 2026, and it's the #1 hotel in Bávaro. Every suite comes with a butler, and guests rave about the food. Rooms start around $310 a night in low season.

The complaints are smaller. Some guests had slow check-ins, the resort app is buggy, the evening shows are mostly in Spanish, and the bathrooms have glass walls. The cheapest suites also feel a bit dated.

Best for: adults who want great food and a real beach without paying Cap Cana prices.

#2 Secrets Cap Cana (8.9/10)

Secrets Cap Cana is adults-only, 15 minutes from the airport, on Juanillo Beach, the calmest and cleanest beach in Punta Cana. Expedia guests rate its cleanliness 9.8 out of 10, the highest on this list. It has won the AAA Five Diamond award four years in a row, and the sit-down restaurants Himitsu and Oceana are guest favorites.

The weak spots are the buffet, seaweed (about one in three or four recent reviews mention it), rooms from 2016 with some maintenance issues, and pool chairs saved with towels early in the morning. Expect vacation club sales pitches too. Rooms start around $450 a night in low season and $800 or more in winter.

Best for: couples who want the best beach and a resort that's truly all-inclusive.

#1 Hyatt Zilara and Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana (9.2/10)

The best all-inclusive resort in Punta Cana is really two resorts side by side on the widest part of Juanillo Beach. Hyatt Zilara is adults-only. Hyatt Ziva is for families, with a water park, kids club and teen lounge. Together they hold a 4.9 out of 5 on TripAdvisor from more than 17,000 reviews, and Zilara won Best of the Best for 2026. Guests praise the staff and the food, adults at Zilara can eat on the Ziva side, and you can use Hyatt points.

It's not perfect. The seaweed hit hard this fall, value is the lowest sub-score, the Club Level upgrades often aren't worth it, and the pools aren't heated. Rooms start around $470 a night in low season and $700 to $1,200 in winter. It's the most expensive resort here and still #1, because it works for both couples and families with the fewest complaints.

Best for: anyone who wants the best overall resort, especially families.

The Two Punta Cana Resorts We Cut

Lopesan Costa Bávaro shows up on a lot of "best of" lists, with a 4.9 on Google but only a 4.2 on TripAdvisor. Several guests say staff asked them for five-star reviews on the spot, so we don't trust that Google score. It also had a power outage of more than 24 hours in July 2026.

W Punta Cana looks incredible, but it opened in 2025 and has only a few hundred reviews, many mentioning restaurants that weren't open yet. We'll check it again next year.

Which Punta Cana All-Inclusive Should You Book?

  • Best overall: Hyatt Zilara and Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana

  • Best for couples who want the beach: Secrets Cap Cana

  • Best value for adults: JOIA Bávaro by Iberostar

  • Cheapest good adults-only option: Excellence El Carmen

  • Best for the photos: Sanctuary Cap Cana

You can compare current prices for all of them on Expedia's Punta Cana all-inclusive page.
