7 Five-Star Bangkok Hotels That Cost Less Than You Think
In most big cities, $150 a night gets you a small, basic room. In Bangkok, it can get you a five-star hotel with a rooftop infinity pool, a huge breakfast buffet and a skyline view you won't forget. That's why cheap 5 star hotels in Bangkok are one of the best travel deals in the world right now.
But cheap five-star hotels aren't all equal. Some are real bargains. Others are old buildings still charging five-star prices from ten years ago. So we went through thousands of recent guest reviews on TripAdvisor, Google, Expedia and Booking to find the seven that actually deliver for the money — including what guests don't like.
How We Ranked These Bangkok Hotels
Every hotel got a score out of 10 based on five things:
Room: size, condition and comfort
Location: how easy it is to get around, especially to the Sky Train
Pool: the pool itself and the view from it
Service: staff, check-in and how problems get handled
Value: what you get for the nightly price
One note before we start: Bangkok prices swing a lot by season, so the prices below are recent ranges, not promises. Always check your own dates. We used the same honest, review-based method for our best all-inclusive resorts in Aruba ranking.
#7 Pullman Bangkok Hotel G — The Cheapest Five-Star
Pullman Bangkok Hotel G sits on Silom Road, about a five-minute walk from Chong Nonsi Sky Train station, so getting around the city is easy. It has three restaurants, two bars, a spa and an outdoor pool, and high-floor rooms have great skyline views.
The big selling point is price. Rooms have recently started around $70 a night, and booking sites say it's often around 60% cheaper than the average five-star in Bangkok.
The catch: age. Guests this year keep saying the hotel is older than they expected and the interiors look dated. Its guest score is good, not great — about 8.4 out of 10 on Expedia.

#6 Avani+ Riverside Bangkok — Best Rooftop Views
Avani+ Riverside is all about the view. It sits right on the Chao Phraya River, a few minutes' drive from ICONSIAM and Wat Arun. Every room type faces the river, and the rooftop has an infinity pool plus SEEN, a well-known rooftop restaurant and bar. Guests love the breakfast, the happy hour and the river views. Rooms have recently been around $160 a night.
The catch: the rooftop pool area is small and there aren't enough sunbeds when it's busy. Some guests say the night view from the bar isn't as special as they expected. And because it's on the far side of the river, you'll rely on taxis or boats more than the Sky Train.

#5 Millennium Hilton Bangkok — Best for Hilton Points
The Millennium Hilton is the easy pick for Hilton fans. It's a tall tower on the river, a short walk from ICONSIAM, one of Bangkok's biggest malls. Every room has a river view, and guests say the sunset from the pool is one of the best in the city. A free shuttle boat takes you across the river to the Sky Train and Sathorn Pier. It scores about 9.3 out of 10 on Trip.com, and rooms usually run around $150 to $250 a night.
The catch: it's on the Thonburi side of the river, away from downtown, so you depend on a boat that runs about every 30 minutes. Some guests say it feels a bit dated, rooms have no balconies, and lower floors can hear boat engines. Ask for a higher floor.
Score: 8.4/10 — Check prices on Expedia
#4 Chatrium Hotel Riverside Bangkok — Most Space
If you want space, this is your hotel. The rooms are big, many are full suites, and they come with balconies over the river. The infinity pool looks right out at the water, the breakfast buffet gets constant praise, and a free shuttle boat runs to ICONSIAM and Sathorn Pier. You can also walk to Asiatique, the riverside night market. Expedia guests rate it 9.6 out of 10, and rooms have started around $130 a night.
An honest note: Expedia actually lists it as a 4.5-star hotel, not five. Guests also mention the building is older, the front desk can be slow, a few rooms weren't as clean as they should be, and it's a long walk to the Sky Train.
Score: 8.6/10 — Check prices on Expedia
#3 Carlton Hotel Bangkok Sukhumvit — Best for Nightlife and Shopping
The Carlton is the pick if you want to be in the middle of everything. It's on Sukhumvit Road, Bangkok's busiest strip for restaurants, shopping and nightlife, within walking distance of Terminal 21 and the Emporium malls. It's newer than most hotels on this list, with a rooftop pool and rooftop bar, and it scores 4.9 out of 5 on TripAdvisor from more than 2,600 reviews. Guests rave about the breakfast and the staff.
The catch: honestly, it was hard to find a pattern of complaints. The biggest issue is price. Booking sites put its average around $130 to $140 a night, but recent rates on some sites have climbed above $180. If you see it near $130, book it.

#2 Eastin Grand Hotel Phayathai — Best Value and Easiest Airport Trip
Eastin Grand Phayathai is TripAdvisor's number one best-value five-star hotel in Bangkok. A covered skywalk connects it to the Sky Train and the Airport Rail Link, so you can get here from the airport without a taxi, even in the rain. It has two infinity pools — one on the 22nd floor and a quieter one on the 37th — both with huge city views. It scores 4.9 out of 5 on TripAdvisor, and low-season guests have paid around $130 to $155 a night.
The catch: several guests say their rooms felt humid, the elevators are slow at busy times, and the cancellation rules are strict. One guest with a medical emergency was still charged more than $200 for a night they couldn't use.
Score: 8.9/10 — Check prices on Expedia
#1 Eastin Grand Hotel Sathorn — Best Overall
Our number one is Eastin Grand Hotel Sathorn. It's linked by a skywalk to Surasak Sky Train station, has a rooftop infinity pool on the 14th floor, and guests talk about the breakfast buffet constantly.
What puts it at the top is consistency. It scores 4.7 on TripAdvisor from almost 11,000 reviews and is ranked one of the best-value five-star hotels in the city. Rooms have recently run around $155 to $200 a night.
The catch: some guests say the rooms are starting to feel dated, the pool gets crowded with loungers saved by people who aren't there, the elevators are busy at breakfast and checkout, the neighborhood is quiet at night, and food and drinks inside the hotel can get expensive. But for one hotel that gets almost everything right, this is the one we'd book first.

Where to Stay in Bangkok: Stay Near the Sky Train
One tip matters more than almost anything else: in Bangkok, being close to the Sky Train beats almost every other feature, because the traffic is brutal. The top three hotels on this list all have it. The riverside hotels make up for it with free shuttle boats, but you'll spend more time waiting.
If you're planning a longer stay and want to work while you travel, Bangkok is one of the easiest cities in Asia to do it from — here are some remote jobs you can do from anywhere.
